Mike is from Singapore. He relocated to Hawaii in 2000 and moved back to Singapore this year.
He always had a love for photography. When he was a child he loved being in front of the camera but in later years found himself even happier behind the camera. Whichever side of the lens you're on, he believes that photography should be enjoyable, spontaneous, and clever.
His first camera was his Dad's Pentax K1000 film camera; which he kept borrowing until it became his. He now shoots completely in digital format.
His favorite photography subjects are food, architecture, and people.
He is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, and in 2008 was the Vice President of the Professional Photographers of Hawai'i.
Earning his Bachelor of Arts, Multimedia, and Architecture degrees taught him the finer points of art, design, the built environment, and project management. His Master of Science in Information Systems degree made him comfortable with technology. Over the years, his experience in the music recording industry, live theatre, TV, and stage performances helped sharpen his other senses. He feels very fortunate to be able to combine all these experiences when creating his photographs. He last taught at the Hawaii Pacific University.
“MAFotoGrafix is a purpose-drive entity, not a profit-driven entity.”
He travels to Asia frequently and visits Europe from time to time. He loves spicy food!
His motto is "Making ordinary look extra-ordinary!"
His favorite quote: "You can judge a country by the way it treats its animals" by Gandhi.
